Summary
The aim of this study is to reveal school principals’ views on the practices of value education. The research was designed in case study model – a qualitative research method. The research was conducted with the participation of 15 school principals who work at public schools under the supervision of Ministryof Education in the province of Aydın. The target population of the research was determined by means of convenience sampling method. The data was collected through semi-structured interviews as required by qualitative research methodology. The results were classified under three headings, or themes, which are ‘Values that matter’, ‘Integrating values into education’ and ‘Suggestions.’ The results, when analyzed according to these three themes, indicate that the school principals place special emphasis on love and respect, rely on teachers’ adequacy for the practices of values education, and suggest that values education should be included in faculty of education curricula for a more efficient value education practice. The suggestions stated in this research are based on the abovementioned results.

Abstract
Bu çalışmanın amacı, okul yöneticilerinin okullarda uygulanan değerler eğitiminin gerçekleştirilmesine ilişkin görüşlerini belirlemektir. Araştırma, nitel bir araştırma desenlerinden durum çalışması deseni olarak tasarlanmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunda Aydın ilinde MEB’e bağlı devlet okullarında görev yapan 15 okul müdürü yer almıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu, uygun örnekleme yöntemiyle belirlenmiştir. Çalışmanın verileri, nitel araştırmaya dayalı olan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme tekniği ile toplanmıştır. Elde edilen verilerin çözümlenmesinde ise içerik analizi yönteminden yararlanılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçları 3 tema altında toplanmıştır. Bunlar ‘Önem verilen değerler’, ‘Değerlerin eğitimde uygulanması’ ve ‘Öneriler’dir. Belirtilen temalar çerçevesinde okul müdürlerinin sevgi, saygı ve iyilik değerlerine önem verdikleri, öğretmenleri değer eğitimlerini gerçekleştirme noktasında yeterli buldukları ve değer eğitimlerinin daha etkili gerçekleşmesi adına eğitim fakültesi programlarına değer eğitimine ilişkin eklemeler yapılmasını önerdikleri sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Bu sonuçlardan yola çıkarak belirli öneriler getirilmiştir.
