Abstract
PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS’ COMPETENCY PERCEPTION RELATED TO HUMAN RIGHTS AND CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION AS AN INTER-DISCIPLINE DOMAIN
In Turkey after the year 2004, it is expected that teachers of nine discipline areas (i.e. classroom teacher, social studies, science and technology, math, Turkish, religious culture and moral knowledge, music, visual art) should realize the teaching activities related to “HRCE inter-discipline domain” in primary school level. The aim of this research is to determine opinions of teachers being interested with HRCE inter-discipline domain about teachers’ competency. 520 teachers working in Kırıkkale took part in this research. In the research non-empirical patterns survey model was used. Frequency, percentage and mean values of obtained data were given in the tables. To determine whether teachers’ opinions statistically differentiate in terms of six variables or not ANOVA and t-test were used. At the end of the research it is seen that most of the teachers find themselves competent about HRCE, but in some items positive opinions are reduced. Most of the primary school teachers want to attend training activities related to HRCE.
