Abstract


THE VIEWPOINTS OF SOCIAL SCIENCES TEACHERS ON THE USE OF LITERARY GENRES AS CLASS MATERIALS
This study has been conducted to examine the viewpoints of social sciences teachers on the use of literary genres as class materials. The titles such as the preferences of social sciences teachers on the use of literary genres, on what grounds the literary genres are used, the products being selected with certain criteria, and the problems in the process of usage have been handled in the study. The study has been conducted by using the Qualitative Research Method. Semi-structured interviews were made with 20 social sciences teachers. The data obtained were examined by using the Content Analysis Method. It was concluded in the light of the findings that teachers took the elements like topic and the level of the students into consideration in selecting literary genres, and use the literary genres in every stage of their classes with certain methods. The results also revealed the reasons, results and the problems encountered during the use of literary products. It has been concluded that the use of literary products must be planned better for the education-training process, and the expectations on this topic must be standardized.
