Abstract


FANTASTIC TELLING BY THE PEN OF EFLATUN CEM GÜNEY: “LITERARY FAIRY TALES”
Magical anonymous texts, which are told in a simple style, delivered by generation to generation and finish with happy end, are worldwide known as folk tales. On the other hand longer stories of a specific author are named as literary fairy tales. They carry mostly realistic feature and are written rather literarily. The fairy tales of Eflatun Cem Güney have indeed the character of folk tales. They are nevertheless told in a specific tone. Besides, cultural, mythological and magical values in Güney's fairy tales compared to folk tales indicate some differences. In this point following should be answered: Are the fairy tales of Güney, which he tells in an own style, collected folk tales? Or are these texts rather literary fairy tales, which have been new created by the author himself? The subject of the following article is dedicated to this question. According to this aim, exemplary texts of the author will be examined. The picked fairy tales will be analyzed for content and format. Particularly, the function of the motives and other components of each story will be valued. As a method the objective hermeneutics will be used.
