Abstract


EXAMINATION OF JOB STRESS LEVEL OF PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS AND EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATORS ACCORDING TO VARIOUS VARIABLES

The main purpose of this research is to determine the level of job stress of primary school teachers and education administrators and whether it differs according to various variables. Descriptive screening model is utilized in this study. The population of the study consists of education administratorsand primary school teacher working in public schools on the European side of Istanbul during 2017-2018 academic year, whereas the sample of the study includes 300 primary school teacher and 100 education administratorsworking in Kucukcekmece, Bahcelievler and Bagcilar districts in Istanbul province. In the study, "Work Stress Scale" were used as data collection tools. The data collected using these scale were uploaded to SPSS program and the average of the results was calculated. Kolmogorov Simirnov, Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal Wallis H test were used to analyze the data. As a result of the data analysis, it was determined that the job stress levels of the primary school teachers were not very high, but at a level that could be described as stressful. It was deduced that there was no difference between the work stress levels of male and female primary school teacher. Therefore, male and female primary school teacher have more or less the same levels of work stress. It was also concluded that work stress levels of primary school teacher did not differ based on their marital status, age and education levels and that the level of work stress in all primary school teacher with different marital status, age and education levels were similar. Furthermore, it was observed that the work stress levels of primary school teacher did not vary based on their professional seniority. Analyzing the average scores, it is seen that the work stress levels of primary school teacher with different professional seniority are similar. It has been concluded that the job stress levels of education administrators are very high. Additionally, the work stress levels of education administrators do not change according to gender, marital status, professional seniority, seniority in management and education level. Moreover, it was determined that the work stress levels of education administrators did not change based on their age.
