Abstract

BİR ÜNİVERSİTEDE ÇALIŞAN PERSONELİN ÇEVREYE YÖNELİK DUYUŞSAL EĞİLİMLERİNİN İNCELENMESİ
This study’s goal is to determine the affective tendency of Hacettepe University staff towards the environment. In order to assess the affective tendency of the staff towards the environment, “The Scale for Affective Tendencies Towards the Environment,” which was developed by the “Wisconsin Center for Environmental Education (1997)” and adapted to Turkish by Karatekin (2011), was applied to 600 staff. The population of the study consists of the staff working on the Beytepe Campus of Hacettepe University. The research data were collected by conducting face-to-face interviews with the participants by adhering to the questionnaire form prepared. The number of the staff (n) to be included in the sample of the study was calculated using the simple random sampling formula with the known number of population. In this study, in which the data were analyzed using the “SPSS 21.0 for Windows” software, frequency distribution (number, percentage) for categorical variables and descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation) for numerical variables were presented while evaluating the study data. The independent samples t-test was used to examine the difference between categorical variables with two groups, and the “one-way analysis of variance” (ANOVA) was used to examine the difference between categorical variables with more than two groups. Furthermore, Cronbach's alpha value was used for scale reliability, and this value was determined to be 0.78. The mean score of the participants for their affective tendencies was calculated to be =43.28. It was determined that there was a significant difference between the affective tendencies of the staff towards the environment and their gender, educational level, income level, and the status of taking the course related to the environment (p<0.05).
