DETERMINATION OF PRESERVICE TEACHERS’ ATTITUDES TOWARDS CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT COURSE
The purpose of this research is to determine the attitudes of preservice teachers towards classroom management. Descriptive survey model was used. The universe of the study consists of a total of 1325 prospective teachers who are studying in the pedagogical formation program at Elazığ Fırat University in 2016-2017 academic year and taking classroom management course. Appropriate sampling method was used for selection of study sample. The appropriate sampling method is one of the non-random sampling methods. The sample of the study is composed of 720 prospective teachers who take classroom management courses in 12 different branches in the pedagogical formation program. A total of 644 of the distributed measuring instruments were evaluated. Classroom Management Course Attitude Scale (CMCAS) used in the research was developed by Başar, Doğan, Akan and Şener (2017). Teacher candidates' attitudes towards classroom management are the level of mostly agree in sub-dimensions of affective closeness and affective awareness and in the whole scale. Female prospective teachers' attitudes towards classroom management courses are higher than those of men. The level of attitudes of the students studying at Anadolu University towards classroom management course is higher than those who are studying at Fırat University. The level of attitude towards classroom management course of the students graduated from Anadolu University is higher than those who graduated from Fırat University.
