Abstract


A MULTI DIMENSIONAL INVESTIGATION OF NEGATIVE BEHAVIOURS OF TEACHERS
Teachers have a critical role in improving the abilities of their students. Although, unquestionably teachers have positive impacts on students, they may have negative effects on students knowingly or unknowingly. These may arise from academic inadequecy of teachers, not being able to use communication skills or unsuccessful classroom management. In literature, while the positive/effective behaviors of teachers have been studied extensively, there is not enough fund of knowledge about the negative behaviors of teachers and studies on negative behaviors of teachers are limited. From this point, in this study, it is aimed to determine the negative behaviors of teachers working in high schools. For this purpose, an open-ended questionnaire form prepared by the researchers. There are four dimensions as; professional knowledge, classroom management, assessment and evaluation and guidance. The study group is selected by the appropriate sampling method and it consists of students, teachers and school administrators of high schools in 2012-2013 academic year, in central province of Kırşehir. The findings of this study are discussed within the framework of the literature and in this context suggestions are presented.
