Summary
The aim of this study is to examine the views of parents who have children in the preschool period about choosing storybooks for their children and reading cases. The phenomenology approach, one of the qualitative research techniques, was used in the study. The study group of the research consists of 151 parents whose children attend a pre-school education in Aksaray and agree to participate in the research. “Parental Demographic Information Form” and “Parent Interview Form” were used as data collection tools. Content analysis was used in the analysis of the data. The obtained data were evaluated by calculating their frequencies and percentages and presented in tables. As a result of the research, most of the parents stated that their children have their own books. In addition, parents stated that they mostly buy a book for their children once a month, and they pay attention to the age appropriateness and the content of the book when buying a storybook for their children. However, parents stated that they mostly bought educational storybooks for their children. According to another result of the study, it was determined that more mothers than fathers read a book to their children for 10-20 minutes once a week or once a week. In addition, all of the parents reported that they talked to their children about the book and the pictures in the book, pointed to the words and pictures in the story with their fingers, and asked their children questions about the story after reading the book. In addition, it was determined that the majority of parents had their children repeat the story, associate the events in the story with the child's life, asked their children questions about the story, and changed their voices in accordance with the characters.

Abstract
Bu araştırmanın amacı, okul öncesi dönemde çocuğu olan ebeveynlerin, çocuklarına hikaye kitabı seçme ve okuma durumlarına ilişkin görüşlerinin incelenmesidir. Çalışmada nitel araştırma tekniklerinden fenomenoloji yaklaşımı kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu Aksaray ilinde, çocuğu okul öncesi eğitim kurumuna devam eden ve araştırmaya katılmayı kabul eden 151 ebeveyn oluşturmaktadır. Veri toplama aracı olarak “Ebeveynlere İlişkin Demografik Bilgi Formu” ile “Ebeveyn Görüşme Formu” kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde içerik analizi kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler, frekans ve yüzdeleri hesaplanarak değerlendirilmiş ve tablolar halinde sunulmuştur. Araştırma sonucunda ebeveynlerin çoğunluğu, çocuklarının kendilerine ait kitaplarının olduğu belirtmiştir. Ayrıca ebeveynler çoğunlukla çocuklarına ayda bir kitap aldıklarını, çocuklarına hikaye kitabı alırken en çok yaşa uygunluğuna ve kitap içeriğine dikkat ettiklerini belirtmişlerdir. Bununla beraber ebeveynler çocukları için çoğunlukla eğitici hikaye kitaplarını aldıklarını belirtmişlerdir. Araştırmanın bir diğer sonucuna göre ebeveynlerden daha çok annelerin haftada bir ya da kez 10-20 dk süreyle çocuklarına kitap okudukları belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca ebeveynlerin tümü kitap ve kitaptaki resimler hakkında çocuklarıyla konuştuklarını, hikayedeki kelimeleri ve resimleri parmakları ile gösterdiklerini, kitabı okuduktan sonra çocuklarına hikaye hakkında sorular sorduklarını bildirmişlerdir. Ayrıca ebeveynlerin büyük çoğunluğunun hikayeyi çocuğuna tekrar ettirdiği, hikayedeki olayları çocuğun hayatı ile ilişkilendirdiği, hikaye hakkında çocuklarına sorular sorduğu ve sesini karakterlere uygun olarak değiştirdiği belirlenmiştir.
