Abstract


UNDER THE SCOPE OF MANAGERS OPINION; SCIENCE AND ART CENTERS TEACHERS PERFORMANCE LEVEL DEPENDING ON THEIR SELECTION
This study aims to assess the performance of the teachers who started to work in the Science and Art Centers by the 2008 teacher selection and to determine if there is a difference between them and the teachers who was selected and appointed before this year. Providing this aim the opinions of 36 managers who served or still serving in the Science and Art Centers before and after 2008 selections, have been taken. The data of the study were collected by quantitative and qualitative ways. For the quantitative data the “The Performance Rating Scale” which was developed by Yılmaz (2006) has been used and for qualitative data, "semi-configured İnterview form” which is prepared by researchers has been used. In accordance with the research findings, the results below have been achieved: According to the opinions of the Science and Art Centers managers performance of the teachers selected for Science and Art Centers in 2008 selection is “good” and performance of the teachers selected before is “medium” level. According to the opinions of the managers there is a meaningful difference between the performance level of the teachers selected in 2008 selection and before and the teachers selected after in favor of the ones selected after. According to managers findings related to the specifications which affect the performance of the teachers who are selected and going to be selected for Science and Art Centers gathered under 4 main and 27 sub titles. Managers consider personal and professional specifications and formation categories in 4 main titles are most important. In the sub titles; being equipped in the pedagogic sense, master degree ownership, competence in project base learning, having skills and knowledge about gifted students and being innovative are the specifications which affect the teacher performance positively according to managers.
